COMMODITY MARKET MOVEMENT ON CBOT – APR 13, 2020.

Weather : Some light rain and snow is possible through Thursday across parts of the Corn Belt, per the latest 72-hour cumulative precipitation map from NOAA, although most parts of the central U.S. won’t expect to gather more than trace amounts during this time. Further out, the agency’s latest 8-to-14-day outlook calls for continued seasonally cool weather from April 20 to 26. Wetter conditions should prevail in the eastern Corn Belt during this time, with some seasonally dry weather more likely in the Plains.

General : Grain prices were mixed but mostly lower Monday. Corn futures saw a small dip from some technical selling, although losses were mostly kept in check after another solid round of export inspection data from USDA this morning. Soybean prices saw the steepest cuts, falling 1% on a round of technical selling today. And while most wheat contracts also spilled into the red, Kansas City HRW contracts held on for modest gains in an uneven session. Sudan’s government plans to buy 7.3 million bushels of wheat through a United Nations food program in an effort to shore up domestic reserves.

SOYBEAN

May bean oil futures were down by 51 points. Soybean shipments form the week ending April 09 were reported at 16.24 mbu. That was 7.2% below the same week last year. MYTD soybean exports from the weekly report were 1.188 bbu, which outpaces last year by 5.5%. Through the first 32 weeks of the MY, bean exports are 66.9% of USDA’s April forecast. The top destination from the week was Egypt, with 40.7% of the total.
