Notify  : The markets will close early on Wednesday ahead of the 4th of July Holiday, with no trade on Thursday and will come back on Friday.

Weather : Light to moderate rainfall will find its way to much of the central U.S. through Friday, per the latest 72-hour cumulative precipitation map from NOAA. The rest of this week through the weekend should feature mostly normal or slightly below-normal daytime highs.

 

General : Wheat prices continued to tilt significantly lower Tuesday after USDA reported an accelerating harvest and improved winter wheat crop quality in its latest crop progress report yesterday afternoon. Corn rebounded on some technical buying, meantime, but soybeans nearly dropped double digits on improved weather forecasts.Japan made offers to purchase nearly 4.6 million bushels of food-quality wheat from the U.S., Canada and Australia in a regular tender that closes tomorrow. Of the total, 53% is expected to be sourced from the U.S.

SOYBEAN

The national soybeans cash index was reported at $8.04 1/4 by cmdtyView on Tuesday, putting basis at -75 1/4 cents vs. Aug. The Crop Progress report from NASS showed that crop conditions did not improve at 54% gd/ex, with the Brugler500 Index down 1 to 348 the lowest since 2012. By state ratings slipped in IN, IA, MN, NE, ND, and OH on the week.

 

CORN

 

USDA’s Crop Progress report indicated crop ratings deteriorated in the ECB (IL -7, IN -9, and OH -14) and NE (-5), with IA, MO, and the Dakotas all improving during the week of June 30. The average cash price around the country is $4.02 1/2 according to cmdtyView, which puts the national average basis at -16 1/2 against Sep. The weekly EIA report will be released on Wednesday morning.

 

WHEAT

 

Harvest is moving North, with drier weather expected for much of the Southern Plains over the next several days. The nearby KC wheat-corn spread is now 10 1/2 cents, with the Sep spread at 13 1/2 cents.. Japan’s weekly MOA tender is for 123,968 MT of wheat from Australia, Canada, and the US (66,053 MT). Egypt’s GASC purchased 60,000 MT of wheat from Romania in their tender on Tuesday, with USDA showing no offers. Algeria is also tendering for optional origin wheat due on Thursday.
